Introduction
Every year on March 1st, the world's attention is focused on civic protection and preparedness. People must learn how to prevent, prepare for, and manage emergencies such as accidents and natural catastrophes. The day honors and recognizes individuals who work in civil protection. It encourages more individuals to learn about safety precautions and protective skills in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. "We can only hope for the best as long as we are satisfyingly prepared for the worst," says a well-known Civil Defense Day quotation. Civil Defense Day is all about increasing awareness of the importance of planning ahead of time.
HISTORY OF WORLD CIVIL DEFENSE DAY
The International Civil Defense Organization established World Civil Defense Day. Every year, they carry out their activities. The day was intended to honor the work of national services responsible for disaster response. It also raises awareness of the importance of self-defense and preventative actions in the case of an accident or tragedy. The International Civil Defense Organization, or I.C.D.O., was created in 1931 by Surgeon-General George Saint-Paul as the Association of Geneva Zones. After seen the consequences of war on the populace, Saint-Paul desired to establish safe zones where residents may take sanctuary during times of conflict. Civil defense, also known as civil protection, is concerned with safeguarding citizens from natural disasters by educating them how to defend themselves via knowledge of prevention, preparedness, reaction, evacuation, and recovery techniques. The name and aims of the group were adjusted over time to form the International Civil Defense Organization that exists today. The International Civil Defense Body (I.C.D.O.) is an intergovernmental organization that provides the protection of people, property, and the environment against natural or man-made catastrophes. The I.C.D.O.'s member-states accepted the organization's present constitution in 1972, and it went into effect on March 1 of that year.
Every year, the International Civil Defense Organization chooses a subject to drive World Civil Defense Day events. It was "Children's safety, our responsibility" in 2019. The subject for 2022 is 'Unifying the world's premier industry professionals for future generations' safety and security.'
