INDIAN COAST GUARD DAY
Every year on February 1st, Indian Coast Guard Day is commemorated. Coast
Guard Day honors organizations from all around the world that is responsible for
maritime security as well as a country's needs. The 46th Indian Coast Guard Day
will be observed this year in India. Volunteering, seeking, and holding rescue
operations are all obligations of the Coast Guard, as well as defending our

HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF INDIAN COAST GUARD DAY
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Day was established by the Indian Parliament on
August 18, 1978. On February 1, 1977, the provisional Indian Coast Guard was
founded to combat sea-borne smuggling of products, which harmed India's internal
economy. The ICG has saved over 10,000 lives and caught over 14,000 criminals
since its start. The Director-General of the Indian Coast Guard is based at the
Indian Coast Guard's headquarters in New Delhi. Virender Singh Pathania is the
current Director-General.
The Indian Coast Guard is involved in a variety of disciplines. This organization is
involved in a variety of missions. It is a joint effort by the Indian Navy, Customs,
and the Police. Different regions are assigned to the guard. The North-West area is
located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the East region is located in Chennai, the North
The East region is located in Kolkata, and the Andaman and Nicobar regions are
located in Andaman and Nicobar.
THE THEME OF INDIAN COAST GUARD DAY
The Indian Coast Guard now has 156 ships and 62 aircraft. By 2025, the
organization hopes to produce 200 ships and 100 twin-engine planes. Every year,
they choose a theme, however, the topic for this year has yet to be determined.
Following the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government launched
a program to increase the size of the Indian Coast Guard's force, assets, and
infrastructure.
