WHAT IS NATIONAL GATI SHAKTI MISSION?
PM Gati Shakti Plan, is national infrastructure master plan which will make a foundation for holistic infrastructure and give an integrated pathway to our economy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a 100-crore PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi model connectivity in the country. PM Gati Shakti aims to reduce logistic costs, enhance cargo handling dimensions and lessen the turnaround time. Creation of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for the multi model integration will aid to upgrade worldwide competitory mechanism, encourage manufacturing and streamlining infrastructure in the nation.
FOCUS AREAS
The plan focuses mainly on raising possibilities of new future economic zones across the country and also making all products the brand ambassador for India. PM Gati Shakti targets the institutionalization for holistic planning for all stakeholders in major infrastructure projects. Rather than planning and designing separately in silos, the projects will be designed as well as executed with a common vision and incorporate the infrastructure schemes of several ministries and state governments like Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry/land ports, UDAN etc.

The institutional perspective in the shape of one central portal will help in cutting down costs, give a big fillip to supply chains and promote a more integrated approach for the movement of people and goods. Not only manufacturing, but exports system of the country will also get a boost up by this plan. Also Gati Shakti Mission can also be taken as a parameter that with most of the infrastructure projects in sectors like urban development, health and education falling under the jurisdiction of the state governments, it remains to be seen that how the Central Government incentivizes the states to join this initiative.
PM Modi pegged the project as a source of employment opportunities for the youth in future. The launch of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is seen as a game changer for industry and would surely harness the potential of Industry sector in line with the PM’s vision of scale and speed. The plan is laser-like in its makeover of India’s infrastructure and is further expected to impart significant impetus to nation’s overall development. Most importantly, a GIS based ERP mechanism for mapping the whole country, which is the core of Gati Shakti Master Plan, would bring about a paradigm shift in infrastructure planning as well as administration.
Modi has raised hopes by quoting that, “The way JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhar, Mobile) trinity revolutionized the access of government facilities to the people, the PM Gati Shakti scheme will do the same in the field of infrastructure connectivity in the country.” And hence it seems to be one of the most popularized and working plans for India which raises standards above all bars. PM Gati Shakti plan includes the creation of a common umbrella platform through which infrastructure projects can be planned and implemented in an efficacious and scrutinized manner. The plan will be working on the basis for optimum utilization of resources thus also owing its bids to sustainable development moving across all challenges today’s developing economy like India needs to focus upon. The mission not only promises for products in terms of manufacturing but will also give a pick up to today’s uplifting scale of unemployment unfortunately due to the present pandemic situations.

Development is not at all possible without quality infrastructure and with this new plan of the elected system, hopes that the government has now resolved to develop it in a holistic manner have surely increased. It will be seen and scrutinized in future that will this new master plan give a boost to India as an investment destination. With more visibility and availability of information and data on a real-time basis, there will be efficient execution of infrastructure projects, less information asymmetry between ministries, reduction in working in silos and lesser delays due to lack of coordination between government agencies.
