The Supreme Court Bench headed by Justice UU Lalit dismissed the appeal of Uttar Pradesh Shiksha Mitras Association in connection with the case related to recruitment of around 69000 assistant teachers in the State of Uttar Pradesh. The Court said that one last chance will be given to the Shiksha Mitras to compete. The Uttar Pradesh Government has been directed to decide the mode of conducting the recruitment exam.
Justice Lalit observed: The submission of UP government that Shiksha Mitras would be given another chance to compete in the next selection. Appeals of all Shiksha Mitras stand dismissed and all contentions are rejected.
The Supreme Court stated that all SLPs of shiksha Mitras are dismissed and they would be given one more opportunity to appear in next recruitment exam. The Supreme Court also maintained that the UP govt can go ahead with filling the remaining 37,000 Shiksha Mitra vacancies in terms of the result announced in May,2020. Around 38,000 Shiksha Mitras won’t get relaxation in cut-off marks for qualifying as primary teachers in Uttar Pradesh as Supreme Court upheld 60-65 cut-off fixed by the state. State will, however, give Shikha Mitras another opportunity to sit in exams next year.
