Uttar Pradesh became the second state after Telangana to have data centre policy. This will give a boost to the centre's plan to localise the storage of data. Centre has prepared a draft on data centre policy.
The state is planning to set up a 250 MW data centre in the state and at least three modern private data centre parks. Different provisions will be given for the industries to set up in the state and subsidies for setting up in the backward regions like Bundelkhand and Purvanchal.
The state said the establishment of data centres in the state will also attract the IT units in the state which will approximately give direct employment to 4,000 people and indirect employment to 20,000 people. It will also give an opportunity setting up data centre by global players like Google, Amazon, IBM and Microsoft.
