Rolls-Royce claims to have produced the "world's fastest all-electric aircraft," as shown in a statement released by the firm. The Spirit of Innovation established three world records in all, according to Rolls-Royce, including a speed of 345.4 mph over 1.86 miles on November 16. The machine also set a new record for the fastest time to ascend 3000 metres, with a time of 202 seconds, according to the organization.
The aircraft is powered by a 400kW electric motor and was built as part of the Accelerating the Electrification of Flight (ACCEL) project, which was financed by the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI), the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and Innovate UK.
