The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested an indigenously developed Long-Range Bomb (LRB) from an aerial platform on Friday, according to a statement from the ministry of defence.
The bomb was planned and produced in collaboration with other DRDO facilities by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a DRDO facility in Hyderabad, Telangana. The RCI lab is active in avionics system research and development (R&D).
The news came only days after the country successfully test-fired the Agni-5 missile off the coast of Odisha from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island. The missile, according to the government, can reach targets at distances of up to 5,000 kilometres "with a very high degree of accuracy."
