The Supreme Court on Monday denied a request for an urgent hearing on behalf of a builders group to lift the blanket ban on construction activities in Delhi-NCR due to deteriorating air quality. Senior Advocate Vikas Singh mentioned the application filed by the "Developers and Builders Forum" seeking the vacation of the Supreme Court's order on November 24 to ban construction activities in Delhi-NCR."Today, tens of thousands of crore are being lost. Today's AQI has risen. This order should be overturned ", Singh petitioned the Chief Justice of India for a listing of the application for tomorrow or Wednesday. “Let the government make the decision," the CJI said. Singh then stated that the Court imposed the ban after the Commission for Air Quality Management lifted the construction ban in November.
The CJI stated that the matter will be considered on the case's next posting date (December 10) and will not be heard before that date. "Let the matter be heard on Friday," said CJI Ramana. The builders' association filed this interlocutory application in the writ petition Aditya Dubey vs. Union of India, where the Supreme Court issued a number of directives to discuss air pollution in the national capital. While imposing the construction ban on November 24, the Supreme Court allowed non-polluting construction activities such as plumbing, electrical work, interior decoration, and so on to continue.
