The Supreme Court's Artificial Committee launched the SUPACE( Supreme Court Portal for Assistance in Court's Efficiency). The event was attended by CJI SA Bobde, CJI Designate Justice NV Ramana, Justice Nageswara Rao and HC judges. Justice Rao is the chairman of SC's AI Committee.
In the ceremony, CJI Bobde called that the AI will create 'a a hybrid system' which works with human intelligence. CJI also called that AI will be used to provide facts to judges which will enable the work fast. The decision making cannot be left on AI where the human conflicts are to be judges. There will not be any unemployment due to AI in Judiciary as it will only assist the officials to do work fast. In this regard, he gave an example of Bombay HC.
CJI Designate Justice NV Ramana called it a historic day and another feather in the cap of CJI. It will be used to deliver fats judgements to needy people. While explaining some functions of AI Justice Rao informed in the ceremony that AI Committee will put the SUPACE tool on an experimental basis in Bombay and Delhi HC where judges will be handling criminal cases and a sub-committee has been formed for using AI in Motor Accidents Claim Tribunals.
