According to market data and port records, approximately 17 lakh tons of sugar was physically exported from October to December 2021, according to ISMA. Around 4.5 lakh tons of sugar was shipped in the same period the previous year.ISMA further stated that roughly 7 lakh tons of sugar are expected to be exported this month. "Amid reports of an expectedly improved incoming season 2022-23 (April–March) in CS Brazil, the worldwide price of raw sugar has fallen even more, and is now reeling at an almost 5-month low of roughly 18 cents/pound," ISMA said. According to the group, Indian mills are waiting for the right moment and are not in a rush to sign new export contracts beyond the 38–40 lakh tonnes that have already been signed.
