Recognizing that the country's labour-intensive industries continue to experience a labour shortage, the Singapore government on Tuesday extended an SGD 250 per foreign worker levy rebate until March next year, a decision that will benefit approximately 15,000 enterprises that rely on foreign workers.
The Manpower Ministry said in a statement that employers in the construction, marine shipbuilding, and process sectors (CMP) can use the refund to keep existing workers and hire people from lower-risk (COVID-19) countries or areas. The majority of Singapore's foreign workers come from India, Bangladesh, and China.
