The Kerala Budget 2021 has been presented by the Kerala’s Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac.
He claimed that they had managed the pandemic saying that Kerala had scripted a success story in the management of COVID-19.
The main point of the budget is that he proposed relaxation in the vehicle tax for hybrid and electric vehicles and 50% waiver on building tax on the eco-friendly constructions.
Isaac said that Kerala is the first State in the country to formulate an e-vehicle policy and to use the solar and electric ferries. Currently, 2000 e-vehicle have been registered in Kerala.
So, to encourage the use of e-vehicles, full hybrid battery electric vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles, etc, he has proposed 50% reduction in Motor Vehicle tax for the first five years.
The second relaxation is provided to encourage the eco-friendly construction of buildings, he said. And for achieving this motive, he has proposed 50% waiver for such buildings that are constructed in such manner.
He added that they will set the exact standards for avoiding power shortage, water conservation, etc. and will provide the incentives to those who will be following these standards.
