Topic- PM Chaired a high level meeting to review the Availability of Medical Oxygen
as our Country braces up for the third wave coronavirus.
The centre government looks to ramp up the oxygen production to cope up with the demand of oxygen as experts suggest that third wave of coronavirus is inevitable.
The officials briefed Prime Minister about the progress on installation of Pressure Swing Adsorption Oxygen Plants (PSA). Officials told that over 1500 such PSA will be installed across the country to meet the oxygen demand. Each district will get such oxygen plants with contribution from PM CARES fund.
Officials told Prime Minister that once the installation is Completed, these PSA oxygen plants will support 4 lakh Oxygenated beds.
PM Narendra Modi told the Official to ensure the oxygen plants are functional at the earliest. And he also told the Official to ensure close coordination with the state government. PM stressed upon availability of trained personnel for maintenance of the plants. He asked the officials to deploy advance technology to monitor the functionality of oxygen plants.
Officials told that around 8000 person will be trained as per the module prepared by the experts.
During the second wave oxygen was the most important resource and its accused shortage led to the devastation of the entire medical infrastructure of the country. During the 2nd wave thousands of people died due to shortage of oxygen. The country had to resort to take oxygen from different nations in the form of aid.
