After a two-day hiatus, gasoline and diesel prices were raised again on Wednesday. Petrol prices have increased by 31-35 pence per litre, while diesel prices have increased by 33-37 pence per litre. Petrol and diesel prices in India have reached new highs as a result of the recent increase in fuel costs.
For the past few months, both gasoline and diesel prices have been steadily rising. This isn't only affecting motorists; non-motorists are also being hit hard by rising consumer goods prices.
There have been calls to include gasoline and diesel costs in the GST. Several state governments, on the other hand, were opposed to the concept, fearing a loss of revenue from vehicle fuels. In India, the large increase in excise duty is mostly affecting the cost of gasoline and diesel. Despite calls for excise duty reductions, the federal government has refused to do so.
