The eighth metropolitan magistrate court has issued a Non Bailable Warrant (NBW) against former Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh. This is the third NBW issued against Param Bir Singh. The issuance of this NBW will take the authorities a step closer to declaring Singh as an absconder.
"With the issuance of NBW we can go ahead with the proclamation and attachment of Singh's properties as per Criminal Procedure Code. We will also be able to initiate procedure for the Red Corner Notice to be issued against Singh," said Special Public Prosecutor Shekhar Jagtap.
There are six FIRs registered against Param Bir Singh and in two cases, one of which is registered in Thane, an NBW was issued earlier. In the Thane case, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was also issued against Param Bir Singh, suspecting that he would flee from the country. Mumbai crime branch which is investigating the extortion FIR registered at Goregaon too, had got an NBW issued from Esplanade court.
This present NBW has been issued in a third case which was registered at Marine Drive police station of extortion from a businessman, few months ago. This is being investigated by Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
