The Sultanate of Oman's government has approved India-made Covaxin injections for travel without quarantine. The new notification would make it easier for Indian nationals who have received the Covaxin vaccine to travel to Oman. Those who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca/Covishield can now visit Oman without being quarantined.
Covaxin is India's first indigenous Coronavirus vaccine, developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech in partnership with the Indian Council of Medical Research. The vaccination has yet to be officially licenced for foreign travel by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The WHO's head scientist, Dr Soumya Swaminathan, previously stated that a meeting of the UN health body's technical advisory group will be held on October 26 to discuss Covaxin's Emergency Use Listing (EUL).
