After the teachers were sacked from their government jobs by the Honorable Supreme Court court order which declared the appointments of these teachers as illegal during the previous governments regime. They have been demanding new jobs.
Atleast 87 teachers and 17 police personnel were injured, around 223 agitating protestors were arrested as they assembled near the official residence of the chief minister.
Over 100 people were injured including security personal and school teachers protesting their termination, were injured, after the police used force to thwart the protesters attempt to picket, outside Tripura's chief minister Biplab Deb.
The injured teachers and the police personnel have been admitted to the Agartala Medical college and hospital and Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Agartala.
Police sources claimed that in order to control the situation they had to resort to lathi charge and use water cannons and tear gas.
In 2018 assembly elections, the BJP had promised to resolve the issue if voted to power. The protesting teachers allege that the party has not delivered its promise.
The agitating teachers have refused to apply afresh for the post in the department. They have continuously dismissed the BJP's government appeal.
