'On board Pune metro with my young friends': PM Modi tweets pics: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a ride on the Pune metro after inaugurating the 12km stretch of 32.2km metro rail project on Sunday. He flagged off maiden metro train run from Vanaz to Garware section and PCMC to Phugewadi section and bought the first ticket for Metro ride from Garware College to Anand Nagar. The Prime Minister shared pictures of him riding the Pune metro along with school children. The foundation of the metro project, which is being built at a total cost of more than ₹11,400 crore, was laid by the Prime Minister on December 24, 2016. Speaking at a public gathering on MIT ground, Modi said, “now you have given me the opportunity to dedicate it. It also has a message that plans can be completed on time.” Highlighting the importance of speed and scale in the development of modern infrastructure, PM Modi lamented that "we had such arrangements" for decades that it was too late to complete important projects. "This lethargic attitude has also been affecting the development of the country," he said. “In today's fast-growing India, we have to focus on speed and scale as well. That's why our government has prepared PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan,” the prime minister added.
