It claims that solely online medical courses are not recognised or approved.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a warning to any prospective student applying for MBBS programmes in China to conduct thorough background checks. Students should be aware that the People's Republic of China's government continues to impose strict travel restrictions in the aftermath of COVID-19.
The NMC stated in an official notice dated February 8, 2022, that the External Affairs Ministry had detected that some universities in the People's Republic of China had begun issuing notices for MBBS admission for the current and next academic years.
“It has come to the notice of the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India, that a few universities in the People’s Republic of China have started issuing notices for admission to MBBS programmes for the current and upcoming academic years,” NMC Secretary Sandhya Bhullar said in the official notice.
Due to these restrictions, a huge number of international and Indian students have been unable to return to China to continue their studies. There had been no relaxation of the limits so far, according to the report.
Furthermore, Chinese authorities had previously stated that courses would be delivered via the internet. According to the current guidelines, the NMC does not recognise or approve medical courses taken solely online.
Ms Bhullar went on to say that students should read the FMGE Regulations before applying to or planning to attend any Chinese or foreign universities. Students were instructed to do their research before deciding where to pursue medical education.
