Notice has been issued by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to the Uttar Pradesh government, to turn in the report on the condition of hospitals and crematoriums in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
Jyotika Kalra, an NHRC team member led the team and visited the hospitals and crematoriums in Gautam Buddha Nagar. NHRC took cognizance of a complaint that was received on April 29, 2021, that District Authorities of G.B. Nagar was a failure in terms of not being able to provide support during April- May 2021. The media reports were also indicative of the same matter.
NHRC had sent a pre-visit questionnaire for the District Magistrate, Hospital Administration and Commissioner of Police of Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The National Human Rights Commission had been on the lookout for illegal stack up and illicit commerce from the State Government on essentials such as oxygen cylinders, medicines, concentrators, ambulance services. Registration of deaths and proper functioning of crematoriums.
The Chief Secretary of UP was asked to take a restorative manoeuvre to guarantee better and standard health care. The Commission also asked the Chief Secretary to submit a report taking proper actions on the following recommendations:
· Availability of standard cost treatment to the residents.
· State Government will develop a policy for in-house oxygen plants, periodical review of a standard treatment protocol to be maintained.
Illegal stack-ups and illicit marketing of essential commodities are to be · kept in check regularly.
· launch of more Ambulances and vans is to a must.
· A District Website should be created and it must be updated regularly. All detailed information should be there, like, availability of hospital beds etc., to avoid chaos and tension,
· Proper Beneficial use of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme is to be done.
· Insurance of the lives and compensation of medical expenses of Contractual staff, are to be taken care of.
