How is board exam a threat but not IIT JEE or CLAT?" Plea in Supreme Court challenges CBSE, ICSE decision to cancel class 12 exam
A plea has been filed before the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) to cancel board examinations for class 12.The plea was mentioned by Senior Advocate Vikas Singh before a Bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari during the hearing of case concerning CBSE assessment policy on Monday.Singh said that while the plea has been filed it is yet to be listed. The Court, therefore, adjourned the hearing for Tuesday at 2 pm when all the matters including the plea challenging cancellation of exam will he heard. The petition filed by Anshul Gupta sought directions from the Court to CBSE and ICSE to explore the possibility of conducting class 12 exams rather than cancelling them. The plea suggested that exams can be taken for 28 crucial subjects along with other exams when situation improves. The petitioner submitted that class 12 exams are very critical for the students and will impact admission for courses like IIT, NDA, MBBS, CLAT, etc
Moreover, the petitioner also contended that even if physical exams are cancelled for class 12, the same students will have to appear physically for competitive examinations like the IIT-JEE, CLAT, NDA etc. A few Days ago The central government had cancelled the CBSE Class 12 examinations 2021 in view of covid situation. The decision has ended months of uncertainty for around 1.2 million students who were to appear in the exams. So CBSE and CISCE had in April issued notification regarding cancelling of Class 10 examinations, and postponing of Class 12 board examinations. The decision came after a high-level review meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi. “Health and safety of our students is of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect,” Modi said, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office.
