The hearing in former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav’s plea for early release in the Dumka treasury case was on Friday postponed for six more weeks. It postponed because half the sentence of Lalu Prasad Yadav had not ended, and this is a necessary condition for early release. There are 40 days left for the completion of Lalu’s half-sentence. In the hearing held last month, his lawyer Kapil Sibal accused the CBI of ‘willfully delaying the bail application’. The Dumka Treasury Case relates to the withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crore by officers of the Animal Husbandry Department of Bihar between 1991 and 1996 when Lalu was the Chief Minister of Bihar. Lalu Prasad Yadav got bail in the Chaibasa treasury case related to the fodder scam in October. But due to non-completion of the hearing of the Dumka Treasury Case, he had to remain in jail.
