Kim Jong-un made his first media appearance in over a month on Tuesday, when he visited the northwestern city of Samjiyon, near the Chinese border, where a significant development project is under way, according to Pyongyang's state media.
Kim Jong-late un's father, former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, was born in Samjiyon.
After commemorating the completion of a large building project there in 2019, North Korea raised Samjiyon from a county to a city, and has called for the area to be transformed into the country's "wealthiest" region.
