Israeli police fatally shot a Palestinian man after he assassinated one Israeli and injured four others close to the entrance to a major Jerusalem holy site on Sunday, according to authorities. The incident occurred near a gateway to a controversial flashpoint shrine known to Jews as the Temple Mount and Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary, according to police.
The shrine, which is important to both faiths, has sparked prior rounds of bloodshed involving Israel and the Palestinians, most recent times in May.
