This is not the first time Punjab have lost the match even after being in a comfortable position, this defeat was too shocking for Punjab and majorly Kings Captain K.L Rahul . Punjab now have made a habit of losing, losing from a position where they can easily win. Only four runs were needed in the last over, Kartik Tyagi bowled a perfect over, he probably bowled the best over of his career. He dismissed Nicolas Pooran on the third delivery and Deepak Hooda on the fifth delivery. And took RR to a memorable win.
Rahul accepted the fact that the team have experienced such a game even before and they now seriously look how can they handle pressure in such games.
Rahul along with Mayank(67) arranged a perfect platform for Punjab. Rahul scored 49 runs, which is a good score in a format like IPL. Rahul hitted some strong hits even. They both made a partnership of 120 runs in twelve overs.
The bother for Punjab started when they lost both the opners. But debutant Aiden Markram (26 not out) and Pooran (32) took Punjab to the door of victory and then the disaster struck.
Rahul said that they haven’t learnt from previous mistakes but they will come back better in next five games, a come back that will be stronger and better. Rahul said they pulled things back quite nicely with the ball and took wickets even. Runs were also made by our side, we need to learn how to tackle pressure situations like these to win games like these.
This was not the first match, punjab lost like this. They lost to KKR in the same way and moreover they lost to RCB in 2016 after coming very close to victory.
