Kohli remains RCB loyalist
After losing to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2021 current IPL Eliminator, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Kohli said he will continue to play for the Bengaluru-based franchise as long as he plays in the league.
Sunil Narines' four-pitch course and 26-run hit helped the Kolkata Knight Riders defeat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by four courses here at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday.
"Your weirdos dominated the game in the middle. They kept taking ground there. We got off to a great start and probably should have tried to take advantage of that." It was more about good quality bowling than bad shots, "Kohli told host station Star Sports after the game.
" Excellent bowling from us. It was the hallmark of the season. But tonight, the big one in the middle has ruined our chances. We fight to the end. But 15 runs left with the bat and a couple of big overs with the
ball. Narine has always been a quality bowler and tonight he has shown once again why he is the most consistent wicketaker in the IPL. Not only he, Shakib, Varun and the three of them played amazingly together. Together they pushed our bats out of their big hits, "he added.
" I've done everything I can to create a culture where young people can come and play expressive cricket. I also tried it at the Indian level. All I can say is that I did the best I could. I put my 120% into this franchise and will continue to do so as a player on the field, "Kohli said.
" It's a great time to reorganize and restructure the franchise for the next three years. Definitely (I'll play for RCB). For me loyalty counts and my commitment is to this franchise until the last day I play IPL, "he added.
KKR will now face Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Previously, Sunil Narine had returned with the 421 numbers as Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers restricted Bangalore to 138/7.
