In a legal regime blow to Prime Minister Viktor Orban's right-wing government, the European Union's top court decided Tuesday that Hungary infringed EU law by making it illegal for people or organisations to aid migrants and refugees apply for asylum. In 2015, Hungary created a razor-wire fence along its border with Serbia and Croatia as more than 1 million refugees, the majority fleeing Syria's turmoil, joined the EU, mostly via Turkey and Greece. Hundreds of thousands of people have travelled north, greater into the EU, in pursuit of safety and a better life.
