The Haryana government modified its Excise Act on Wednesday, opening the door for the state's legal drinking age to be lowered from 25 to 21 years. The Haryana Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2021, was enacted in this respect by the State Assembly. The age limit in the National Capital Territory of Delhi has been lowered to 21 years. Furthermore, as per the Bill introduced by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, who also holds the Excise and Taxation ministry, the socio-economic conditions of the day have changed dramatically since the former provisions were placed in the Excise Act. People are now more informed and willing to try new things, and they can make sensible judgments when it comes to safe drinking, according to the bill.
