Thawarchand Gehlot to be sworn in as New Governor of Karnataka.
Thawarchand Gehlot has been appointed as the new governor of Politically Crucial Karnataka. With this appointment the centre government has tried to accommodate record number of backward class and SC/ST members to high office of Raj Bhawan.
Oath ceremony of former Union Minister Thawarchand Gehlot as the new governor of Karnataka will take place on 11th July. He will be the 19th Governor of the State. The ceremony will take place at the glass house of Raj Bhawan at 10:30 am. Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, Justice Abhay Srinivas Oka will administer the oath of office to the new governor.
Thawarchand Gehlot was born on 18th May 1948 in Madhya Pradesh. He was the Minister of Social Justice And Empowerment. He was also the leader of upper house of the Indian Parliament. Gehlot, Senior member of Bjp, was born in a Dalit family. He did his graduation from Vikram University, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier, he represented Shajapur in the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 2009. However, he lost the 2009 general elections. He was the General-Secretary and Vice-President of Janata Party from 1977 to 1980. He was elected to Lok Sabha in 1996, 1998, 1999. He also held the positions of member of Committee on Agriculture, member of Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Labour in 1996 and 1999. He is the most noticeable face of BJP for the Scheduled Castes.
