Former Attorney General of India (AGI) Mukul Rohatgi will appear before the Bombay High Court today in support of Aryan Khan's bail application.
During the day, Rohatgi, who recently slammed the Narcotics Control Bureau as "an Ostrich with its head buried in the sand," will join Khan's existing battery of lawyers in the HC. Aside from Rohatgi, Khan's team includes senior lawyers such as Amit Desai and Satish Maneshinde, who have fought for him in the Magistrate Court, Special NDPS Court, and the High Court.
Aryan Khan and seven others were detained on October 2 after the NCB raided a rave party aboard a cruise ship, and were arrested the next day, with another 12 arrested in the sensational case.
Aryan Khan and others have been charged with violating Sections 8(c), 20(b), 27, 28, 29, and 35 of the NDPS Act.
The HC will hear Khan's, Arbaaz Merchant's, and Munmun Dhamecha's bail applications, all of whom have spent 25 nights away from home. The drug case has also sparked a political squabble, with the Maharashtra government accusing the NCB of targeting specific individuals on orders from the Centre.
Mukul Rohatgi is a renowned lawyer, son of Justice Awadh Behari Rohatgi, a former Delhi High Court judge. He has represented the Gujarat government in the Supreme Court in cases involving the 2002 Gujarat riots and allegedly fake encounter deaths, such as the Best Bakery and Zahira Sheikh cases.
