IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar has informed that an FIR has been filed against a few medical students for reportedly celebrating Pakistan's victory on Sunday. A group of students can be seen celebrating the Pakistan team's triumph over India in an undated video that has been circulating on social media. The video shows college students screaming "Pakistan Zindabad" and cheering and dancing joyously.
Following the virality of recordings of groups of students celebrating Pakistan's triumph on social media, officials have announced that an FIR has been filed against a handful of them. A few GMC and SKIMS medical students have been charged with reportedly celebrating Pakistan's victory over India in the ICC T20 World Cup match, according to IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar. Earlier on Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir government announced that it had begun identifying people who chanted the Pakistan national song at the Medical College in Srinagar before the World Cup match between India and Pakistan.
The accusations filed against the students in the case have yet to be confirmed by the Srinagar Police. Meanwhile, the J&K government has stated that the students engaged will not be considered for government positions.
