A Delhi court closed the defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party legislator Somnath Bharti after journalist Ranjana Dwivedi decided to compound the case in view of an apology tendered to her.
Ranjana Dwivedi filed a defamation case against Bharti for allegedly using objectionable language against her and hurling abuses during a live television debate show.
"In view of the aforesaid submissions made and statements of the parties recorded today, particularly statement of the complainant regarding compounding of the present complaint case against the accused, present complaint case stands disposed of as compounded," Judge Sachin Gupta, Special MP/MLa Court, Rouse ordered.
Bharti offered his sincere and deepest apology if he hurt the sentiments of the complainant in any way. In view of the apology, Dwivedi agreed to compound the present case against the Bharti. Dwivedi also agreed to also withdraw her FIR against Bharti under Section 504/509 IPC.
