CJI SA Bobde and Justice DY Chandrachud today inaugurated India's first ever e-resource center Nyay Kaushal at the Judicial Officers Training Institute in Nagpur.
At the event, CJI Bobde raised his concerns about the functioning of the courts during the pandemic and said that, "The pandemic was something as if the heavens had fallen.” However, he nonetheless praised the efforts by the Supreme Court judges, Chief Justices and Judges of the High Courts and judges of the district courts and technical staff for continuing virtual hearings and ensuring smooth functioning of the courts in order to maintain the rule of law.
Sharing his views on the e-portal he highlighted that, “While justice continued to be administered uninterrupted, access to justice became technology dependent which in turn created an obvious distinction between those who could afford the technology and those who could not.” He mentioned that it became necessary to place emphasis on making this technology available everywhere. Nyay Kaushal thus aims at facilitating e-filling of cases in the Supreme Court, all High Courts and district courts across the country.
