Navjot Singh Sidhu, the president of the Punjab Congress, sparked a new controversy on Saturday when he referred to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan as his "bada bhai" (older brother) who had given him with "a lot of love." Sidhu made the comment while being met by a Pakistani official at the Kartarpur Corridor crossing point on Saturday morning. He was joined by Punjab Sports Minister Pargat Singh, Revenue Minister Aruna Chaudhary, numerous Congress MLAs, and an MP to the Gurdwara at Kartarpur Sahib.
Sidhu and the Congress group were showered with rose petals, adorned, and brought to the Pakistan customs checkpoint, where Pakistan Rangers personnel and immigration workers bombarded Sidhu with wishes for pictures and selfies. Before heading to the Gurdwara a few kilometres down the street, he pleased everyone.
