Asghar Afghan, the former Afghanistan captain, has declared his retirement from all forms of international cricket. He will play his final match in the ICC T20 World Cup on Sunday against Namibia.
When Afghanistan made their Test debut against India in Bengaluru in 2018, the 33-year-old was their first captain. Asghar Afghan represented Afghanistan in six Tests, 114 One-Day Internationals, and 74 Twenty-20 Internationals, scoring 440, 2424, and 1351 runs in white-ball cricket, respectively.
