Abdul Kadar Shaikh, suspected drug supplier arrested in cruise ship drug case, petitioned in Mumbai court for bail in case Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, is the main accused.The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) allegedly apprehended the 30-year-old senior executive at a bus stop in Mumbai with 54.3 grams of ephedrine and 2.5 grams of ecstasy is a commercial measure. He was arrested for violating Sections 22(b), 22(c), 27, 27A, 28, 29, and 35 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Shaikh claimed that the NCB illegally detained him for more than 24 hours before bringing him to a Magistrate's court for remand.
He claimed he was arrested on October 3 of this year, but was not arrested until October.4, before finally appearing before the Magistrate on October 5, resulting in a violation of his fundamental right to life and personal liberty. Shaikh was in NCB custody until October 11, when he was remanded to judicial custody. Shaikh said in his bail application, submitted through lawyer Apoorv Srivastav, that applications against him did not include any specific allegations other than the alleged recovery. He claimed that he was never served with a notice under Section 50 of the NDPS Act, as the NCB claimed.
According to Shaikh, NCB obtained two panch witnesses in his case, one of whom, according to media reports, had criminal antecedents and was a habitual panch. As a result, he claimed, the entire operation was questionable and suspicious. He also claimed that he had not been searched by gazette officers as required by the NDPS Act. He also claimed that the other panch witness was seen carrying a white-colored bag while the panchnama was being prepared, as evidenced by CCTV footage obtained from a nearby mall. As a result, he was made a scapegoat despite the fact that he was not involved in any criminal conspiracy or abetment to commit any offence. 18 of the 20 people arrested in the case have been released on bail. Only Shaikh and a foreign national, Chinedu Igwe, have yet to be released on bail.
