El Kabbashi's detention comes a day after security officials fired live bullets and tear gas at anti-coup demonstrators in Khartoum and Omdurman, resulting in the deaths of six people. According to medics, security agents also raided an Omdurman hospital and detained numerous wounded patients. On Saturday, tens of thousands of people flocked to the streets of the capital and other cities to condemn the insurrection that took place last month.
