On Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry announced that the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses delivered in the country has surpassed 118 crores. It was reported that over 68 lakh vaccine doses were delivered on Tuesday till 7 p.m., with the total anticipated to rise once final data for the day are compiled late at night.
The nationwide immunisation campaign began on January 16, with healthcare personnel being the first to get vaccinated. Frontline staff have been vaccinated since February 2. The second phase of COVID-19 immunisation began on March 1 for persons over the age of 60 and those aged 45 and over who have certain co-morbid disorders.
