The status report in the Suo moto case of In Re Contagion of Covid-19 Virus has been issued by the Supreme Court concerning the rehabilitation of the street children.
The division bench of Justice Nageswara Rao and B.R.Gavai has asked all the States and Union Territories to make and file a report on the status the Standard Operating Procedure for Care and Protection of Children in Street Situations made by National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR) in 2020.
An application on children affected by pandemic and elevation in the child trafficking which was filed by Amicus Curiae Mr. Gaurav Agrawal was heard by the court. The Court directed to circulate this drafted SOP to all the States and Union Territories for their opinions. The responses is to be submitted within two weeks.
The Bench directed NCPCR to submit a report on the steps taken by all the state governments under the Juvenile Justice Act.
