2 Fox journalists killed in Ukraine
According to the network, a veteran videographer and a 24-year-old Ukrainian journalist working for Fox News were both killed when their vehicle came under fire outside of Kyiv. Pierre Zakrzewski, 55, and Oleksandra "Sasha" Kuvshynova were in Horenka on Monday with Fox News reporter Benjamin Hall, who is still in the hospital.‘’Today is a heartbreaking day for Fox News Media and all journalists risking their lives to bring you the news," said the network's CEO, Suzanne Scott, in a staff memo on Tuesday. Another veteran of covering war zones, documentary filmmaker Brent Renaud, was killed on Sunday when Russian forces opened fire on his vehicle in Irpin, also outside of Kyiv. The deaths of three journalists in a short period of time highlight the dangers that those chronicling the war in Ukraine face, even those with extensive experience reporting from conflict zones. The risks to journalists appear to be increasing by the day.
